Lauren! (Not of the Nonnie variety)

One of my very best friends from college came from Phoenix to visit us this weekend. Lauren and I became fast friends during our first year at Georgetown, partly because of her dazzling personality and partly because she was the only other active member of the LDS Church in my class, so together we suffered through some culture shock as we attended what seemed to us a very unconventional church branch. We lived together our junior and senior years and she has been a great friend -- great at keeping in touch and visiting, so we were glad when she finally relocated to the West coast.

I so enjoyed catching up with her, hearing her great dating/travel/work stories, and showing her a bit of beautiful San Diego. Saturday we happened upon an art festival in Seaport Village, ate yummy kebab, strolled around our favorite San Diego spot (the Cove). It was a lovely day and a great visit.

It was also fun for Joseph to get to know her. It took him a little bit to warm up to her (I think he was put off when he woke up Saturday morning with a stranger sleeping in the bed in his room), but eventually he was showing her toys and snuggling with her just like she was part of the family. He is so friendly.

Me, Joseph, and Lauren.

Joseph's favorite part of the day was when we let him push his stroller around. Incidentally, this was also his favorite part of a recent trip to the zoo. Giraffes and elephants within feet of him have nothing on pushing the stroller around.

Joseph also enjoyed playing some drums. Granted, he also enjoyed hitting the seat of the chair about as much as he liked hitting the drums. Anyway.
